The Voice Behind the Apothecary

My name is Dr Darren Thomas Jones and I am a Thanatologist, a bereavement specialist and Classical Spiritualist Medium based in the UK, London. As a thanatologist, I specialise in all aspects of the study of death, grief and bereavement and combine this with the ethical and ancient craft of mediumship through linking with the spirit world to bring comfort from those passed and deep philosophical soul guidance. Essentially, I walk alongside grief, not to fix it, but to listen to it, having too experienced its effects and transformation.

Qualifications and Experience for Practice:

I have worked in senior education management for over twenty years with a doctorate in spirituality, MA and degrees in Law and Spanish and Classics and English Literature and diplomas in Spiritual Counselling. I am a member of the Spiritualist National Union (UK).

I am a classically trained spiritualist medium and healer with more than 20 years of development experience in the ancient craft and lineage of mediumship. This is a sacred, mystical, ancient and esoteric form of mediumship which works alongside modern science and transpersonal psychology crafted and developed by Brian Robertson and Simon James of the Inner Quest Foundation, Canada. I am part of the Sofia Community of the Inner Quest Sophia Community led by two of the world’s most ethical and foremost classical mediums. Prior to this I have also attended the Arthur Findley College UK and studied Spiritual Counselling diplomas with Blue Marsden at The Holistic Healing College in London.  I have also worked as a bereavement volunteer for the UK organisation Cruise and in development of mediumship with medium Eileen Davies at Kingswells’ House Aberdeen in Scotland, UK.

With a strong practical ‘in the world approach’, I use my mediumship sensitivity along with my academic and therapeutical understanding of grief and bereavement to offer ancient wisdom and understanding for grief and modern day problems of the soul such as loss, feelings of separation, spiritual loss or confusion. This combination of bereavement support and mediumistic ability together is rare and deeply enriching and supportive of those in grief.

My practice is deeply rooted in the belief that grief is sacred and that each sorrow holds its own mythology, waiting to be told, honoured and transformed. Drawing from training in grief counselling, spiritual philosophy, and narrative work, I support people to uncover the voice of their grief. I integrate soul readings, storytelling, card symbolism and reflective practices shaped by myth, poetry and ancient wisdom all for problems of the modern world.

This is neither a clinical nor a fluffy vacuous spiritual space. It is a soul apothecary. A place where your grief can breathe, speak and be seen through hard transformational work allowing you to ‘Grieve Well to Live Well’.

Whether you are mourning a loved one, a beloved pet,  the loss of identity or something more ineffable – I welcome you onto a space where your story matters to heal your grief so you can continue your story healthily and live well.
